Here is what happens to your information when you join our newsletter, write to us, apply to be a maker, buy a ticket, or visit this website. We would rather tell you plainly than bury it. If anything is unclear, email us at Events@weareohiomade.com.
Who we are
We Are Ohio Made, LLC runs the Ohio Made Holiday Market in Columbus, Ohio, and this website, ohiomademarket.com. On this page, “Ohio Made,” “we,” and “us” mean We Are Ohio Made, LLC.
This policy covers this website, our newsletter and email, ticket orders, and maker applications. Other sites we link to, such as Eventbrite, have their own policies, and those apply once you are on them.
The short version
We collect what you give us (newsletter signups, contact messages, maker applications, ticket orders) and basic details about how people use this website.
Other companies handle some of that information for us. We name the main ones below.
We advertise on Facebook and Instagram. To do that, we share hashes (scrambled, one-way versions) of customer and newsletter email addresses with Meta, the company that runs them. Meta matches them to its own accounts so we can show those people our ads.
We do not sell your personal information.
Unsubscribe: use the link at the bottom of any newsletter or marketing email we send.
Stop ads that use your email, ask what we hold, or ask us to delete it: email [Events@weareohiomade.com](mailto:Events@weareohiomade.com?subject=Privacy%20request). Details are under Your choices below.
What we collect and why
Newsletter signups (Mailchimp)
When you join our newsletter, we collect your email address and, if the form asks for it, your name. We use it to send event news, maker announcements, ticket information, and other Ohio Made marketing email.
Mailchimp, the service that sends our email, also records whether you open our emails and click the links in them, and your approximate location based on your internet connection. We use that to improve our emails and our advertising.
Every newsletter and marketing email we send has an unsubscribe link. Use it any time and we will stop sending them.
We also use newsletter email addresses to build advertising audiences with Meta. That is explained under Advertising with Meta below.
Contact form (Jetpack)
If you send us a message through the contact form on this website, we collect your first and last name, your email address, your message, and anything else you choose to tell us. We use it to answer you. The form runs on Jetpack, a tool from Automattic that works inside WordPress, the software behind this website.
Maker applications (Jotform)
The maker application on this website is run by Jotform. It asks for your name, business name, email address, mailing address, and phone number. It also asks about your products, and for photos of your work, links to your website and social media, other shows you have done, and a few answers about the market. We use it to review applications, plan the market, stay in touch with makers, and keep our records.
Booth payments are handled by PayPal. We do not receive your full card number.
Ticket purchases (Eventbrite)
We sell tickets through Eventbrite, not on this website. When you choose Buy Tickets, you check out through Eventbrite, in a window on this site or on Eventbrite’s own site. Eventbrite takes your payment and handles your order details under Eventbrite’s own privacy policy. Eventbrite also runs its own tools on its pages.
As the event organizer, we receive order and attendee information from Eventbrite, including the buyer’s name and email address for each order and what was ordered. We use it to run the market, answer questions about your order, and tell you about this and future Ohio Made events. Information about ticket orders can also reach Mailchimp, our newsletter service, through the connection between Eventbrite and Mailchimp.
We also use customer email addresses to build advertising audiences with Meta. That is explained under Advertising with Meta below.
Visits to this website
Like most websites, we measure how people use this one. These tools collect details such as your device and browser, your approximate location, the pages you view, and the site that sent you here. We use that to see what is working and keep the site running well.
The tools are Google Tag Manager and the Google tag, which load and manage the measurement tags on this website; Google Site Kit and MonsterInsights, which connect this site to Google Analytics; and Jetpack Stats, from Automattic, the company behind WordPress.com. Some images on this site load through Jetpack’s image network, and some pages load fonts from Google Fonts, so those companies also receive your browser’s request when a page loads.
The company that hosts this website, and the security and delivery services in front of it, also see technical details such as your IP address, your browser type, and the page you asked for. They may keep these in routine server logs.
Advertising with Meta (Facebook and Instagram)
We advertise on Facebook and Instagram, which Meta Platforms runs. Three things feed our ads: the Meta Pixel, email addresses, and people’s activity with our Facebook and Instagram pages and ads. That last one uses information Meta already has, under Meta’s own policies.
The Meta Pixel
The Meta Pixel is a small piece of code from Meta. It runs on our event page on Eventbrite, where it records visits to the page and ticket purchases. We are also adding it to this website.
It records things like the pages you view, actions such as visiting the ticket page, and identifiers from your device or browser. If you use Facebook or Instagram, Meta may connect this activity to your account. We use it to measure how our ads perform and to build audiences for our ads. Those audiences include people who visited our site or event page, which is called retargeting, and people who are similar to them, which are called lookalike audiences. People stay in our website audiences for a limited time, up to 180 days.
Email addresses and Meta (new as of October 1, 2026)
We also use the email addresses of our customers (people who have bought tickets) and our newsletter subscribers to build advertising audiences with Meta.
Here is how it works. Before anything leaves our own computer, we turn each email address into a hash: a one-way code made with a standard method called SHA-256. We share those hashes with Meta, not the readable addresses. Meta compares our hashes with hashes made from the email addresses on its own accounts. When one matches, Meta can include that person in an audience we can show ads to. That includes audiences of people who are similar to our past customers, called lookalike audiences.
Under Meta’s terms for this feature, Meta uses the hashes only to match and build the audience, does not share them with other advertisers or third parties, and deletes them after matching is complete, subject to optional features we may choose.
To opt out of any of this, see Your choices below.
Who else handles your information
We use these companies to run this website, our newsletter, ticketing, applications, and ads. Each one handles information under its own privacy policy.
Google (Tag Manager, Google tag, Site Kit, Google Analytics through MonsterInsights, Google Fonts): Google Privacy Policy and how Google uses information from sites that use its services
Automattic (Jetpack Stats, Jetpack’s image network, and the Jetpack contact form): Automattic Privacy Policy
Mailchimp, part of Intuit (newsletter and email): Mailchimp privacy information
Meta Platforms (Meta Pixel and ad audiences): Meta Privacy Policy
Jotform (maker applications): Jotform Privacy Policy
PayPal (booth payments): PayPal Privacy Statement
Eventbrite (tickets): Eventbrite Privacy Policy
We also use everyday business tools, such as email and file storage, that hold information for us, and a web host for this website.
Cookies and similar tools
A cookie is a small file a website stores in your browser. Pixels and similar tools do the same kind of job. We use three kinds:
Analytics: Google’s tools and Jetpack Stats, to measure traffic and how the site performs.
Forms and functions: Jetpack’s contact form, Jotform, and Eventbrite’s ticket buttons and checkout, to make forms and ticket buying work.
Advertising: the Meta Pixel, to measure our ads and build audiences for them. Google may also use information from its tools as described in its own policies.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Some parts of this site may not work as well if you do. You can also opt out of Google Analytics measurement with Google’s opt-out browser add-on (for most desktop browsers), manage the ads Google shows you in Google’s Ad Settings, and manage the ads Meta shows you in Meta’s ad preferences.
For the technically curious, the identifiers we use are Google Tag Manager container GTM-MT56DPP4, Google tag GT-NB33M2BR, and Meta Pixel 498129327738513.
We do not sell your personal information
We do share some information, as described above: with Meta, so it can run and measure our ads, and with Google, so it can measure how people use this website. You can opt out of ad matching any time, using the steps under Your choices.
How long we keep information
Newsletter: We keep your email address on our list until you unsubscribe. After that, we keep a record that you opted out so we do not email you again, unless you ask us to delete it.
Contact messages: As long as we need to answer you and keep a record of the conversation.
Maker applications: While we work with makers, and afterward so we can invite makers back and keep our records. We keep payment records as long as our bookkeeping and tax records require.
Ticket orders: As long as we keep running Ohio Made events and sending event news, or until you ask us to delete them.
Website and advertising data: Google, Automattic, and Meta keep this under their own tools and policies. Website audiences we build with the Meta Pixel hold people for up to 180 days.
Your choices
These choices are open to everyone, wherever you live.
Unsubscribe from email. Click the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any newsletter or marketing email from us, and we will stop sending them. That does not by itself remove you from ad audiences we have already built. To be removed from those too, ask us, as described below.
Opt out of Meta ad matching and interest-based ads. Use Meta’s ad preferences to control the ads you see on Facebook and Instagram, including ads based on your activity on other websites (Meta explains how). To ask us to leave your email address out of future uploads to Meta, and to remove you from audiences we have already built, [email us](mailto:Events@weareohiomade.com?subject=Ad%20opt-out) with “Ad opt-out” in the subject line.
Opt out of Google Analytics. Install Google’s opt-out browser add-on.
Ask what we hold. Email us and ask what information we have about you. We will tell you what we find.
Ask us to delete it. Email us and ask us to delete what we hold about you. We will, unless we need to keep something, like a payment record, and we will tell you if that is the case. Companies like Eventbrite, Google, and Meta keep their own records under their own policies, so you may need to contact them too.
To make any request, email [Events@weareohiomade.com](mailto:Events@weareohiomade.com?subject=Privacy%20request). Tell us what you want and which email address you use with us, so we can find you. We may ask you to confirm it is you before we share or delete anything. You do not have to give a reason.
Children
The Ohio Made Holiday Market welcomes all ages, and children 12 and under can attend on Saturday free with a reserved ticket. This website and our online tools are not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 online, and we ask that a parent or guardian reserve any ticket for a child. If you think a child under 13 has given us personal information, email us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the new version on this page and update the date at the top.
